From the Puntang area in West Java, this coffee is produced exclusively under the shade of wood trees of various species (pine, eucalyptus, erythrine, avocado). The coffee is prepared in a natural process by the Klasik Beans cooperative, founded in 2008 by a group of producers in Puntang. The cooperative's philosophy is in line with that of Goodlife, in terms of quality, people and respect for the environment. The cooperative aims to preserve Indonesia's cultural heritage by creating organic, sustainable and fair-trade coffees. Production must respect good agricultural practices (today almost organic production & totally under shade). Between high-altitude forest and rice fields, the plantations stretch across the Guntur, Halimu Tilu and Puntang volcanoes. At each harvest, the coffee cherries are hand-picked and taken to one of the cooperative's 3 cherry-processing sites.
